Cookies We Use

Introduction

This policy aims to explain how this website uses cookies to provide clear and relevant information, enabling users to make choices regarding what happens when accessing the site. The term ‘cookie’ in this policy refers to information files that store the user’s internet browsing on their computer to speed up and optimize searches and similar technologies contemplated by the law (such as Local Shared Objects – commonly referred to as “flash cookies,” web beacons, or bugs, including transparent clear gifs). The collected information pertains to data that could identify users/visitors through association and processing with data held by third parties (such as IP addresses, domain names of computers used by people connecting to the website). This data is used only for statistical purposes.

This document is an integral and substantial part of the Privacy Policy released in accordance with EU Regulation No. 2016/679 (GDPR). Therefore, it is recommended to read that document.

Applicable Law

The matter is regulated by the European Directive 2002/58/EC – subsequently amended by Directive 2009/136/EC and implemented by the national legislations of the European Union member states – which requires obtaining consent for cookies and similar technologies.

What is a Cookie

A cookie is a small text file, typically consisting of letters and numbers, downloaded to a device when the user accesses the website. Cookies are then sent to the original site on each subsequent visit. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize a user’s device.

The use of cookies and similar technologies has long been commonplace as they are essential in providing many online services. The use of these technologies is not prohibited by law but requires informing the user about cookies and offering the option to accept or reject them.

Different Types of Cookies

Session and Persistent Cookies

Cookies can expire at the end of a browser session (i.e., from when a user opens the browser window until they exit the browser) or can be stored for a longer period.

Session Cookies – allow websites to link a user’s actions during a browser session. They can be used for various purposes, such as remembering what a user has added to their cart while browsing a site. They may also be used for security when a user accesses online banking or to facilitate the use of webmail. These session cookies expire after a browser session.

The use of so-called session cookies (which, in any case, are not stored persistently on the user’s computer and are automatically deleted as soon as the browser is closed) is strictly limited to the purpose of transmitting data (consisting of randomly generated numbers generated by the server) that identifies the specific session and is necessary to allow safe and efficient browsing. The session cookies used on this site avoid the use of other potentially harmful computer techniques for the confidentiality of user navigation on the network.

Persistent Cookies – are stored on users’ devices between different browser sessions and allow remembering user actions on a site. Persistent cookies can be used for various purposes, including remembering user preferences and choices when using a site (or in some cases across different websites).

First-Party and Third-Party Cookies – Whether a cookie is ‘first-party’ or ‘third-party’ is closely related to the website or domain that uses that particular cookie. First-party cookies, essentially, are cookies set by the same website visited by the user – i.e., the site displayed in the URL window: in our case, cookies set by https://tossudastudio.eu. Third-party cookies are cookies set by a domain different from the one visited by the user: i.e., cookies set by websites other than https://tossudastudio.eu. When you have visited https://tossudastudio.eu, Google Analytics has set the cookie called ‘_ga’ through the domain gstatic.com; this specific cookie is a “third-party” cookie.

Data Controller

Local web, as identified in the Privacy Policy, is the data controller for – and is responsible for only first-party cookies; otherwise, third-party cookies fall under the ownership of the respective companies, identified according to the table contained in this document.

Consent for Cookies

Some cookies are strictly necessary for the proper functioning of the Internet and do not require user consent, such as those ensuring that the content of a page is loaded quickly and effectively, distributing the workload among different computers, or ensuring security.

Other cookies are still reasonably necessary or important but are not strictly indispensable and, therefore, require user consent.

This site implements various techniques to collect user consent: one way is selecting the specific checkbox on the cookie banner published on the site’s login page, highlighting the use of cookies.

Browser settings represent another means of giving or, conversely, refusing consent for cookies; the user can configure the browser to be notified of the presence of cookies, allowing them to decide whether to accept cookies or not. It is also possible to automatically reject all cookies by activating the appropriate option in the browser.

Each browser provides instructions for this purpose.

Revoking Consent

Your consent to the use of cookies can be revoked at any time, although revocation may impact the functionality of the website.

Disabling Cookies

Cookies are linked to the browser used and can be disabled directly from the browser, thus refusing/revoking consent to the use of cookies. It should be noted that disabling cookies may prevent the correct use of some site functions. Instructions for disabling cookies can be found on the following web pages:
